Statamic 4 - Alpha 5 ๐Ÿค˜

We know, we know โ€”ย if you're someone who knows we're up to Alpha 5, you probably don't want to wait any longer for us to ship 4.0 final. And while we're not quite there yet, the good news is there are only a few more bugs to squash and a little bit more docs to update and we'll be ready for take-off! ๐Ÿš€

In the meantime, head over to GitHub and give our pre-release version a try. We're really interested to hear your feedback. ๐Ÿ‘‚

Flat Camp Updates ๐Ÿ•๏ธ

Flat Camp is just over three weeks away โ€”ย our very first non-conference retreat is nearly here!

Flat Camp 2023

The schedule is being finalized and while we don't want to spoil the fun, we can say the exclusive swag might very well be FOMO-inducing for anyone who can't make it.

We still have room for a few more folks, so if you're on the fence and decide to YOLO and make the last minute call, grab one of the last tickets over on flatcamp.com. We'd love to see you there.

There will be lots of activities (tech and non-tech related), including wine and whiskey tastings (and plenty of soda and water for those who don't imbibe), catered meals, campfire chats, and more. We're excited and hope you are too. ๐Ÿ’œ

We could still use a few more sponsors โ€”ย so if you're interested in being a part of this event and reaching a small group of dedicated agency owners and tech leads with your brand or product, please reply to this email and let's chat!

New example projects by John Koster ๐ŸฆŒ

The Agency Starter Kit for Statamic

Well, he did it, again.

Since the last issue of this newsletter, John released a brand new and free Starter Kit, The Agency, and two new example projects, Kode and The Hook.

Here are his descriptions for the projects:

  • The Agency is a free Statamic Starter Kit designed as an example of utilizing various techniques to implement a highly customized Statamic experience.
  • The Hook is an example Statamic 3 project that implements multiple layouts, infinite scrolling, and more.
  • Kode is a simple, single-author programming blog sample project, built using Statamic 3.

He is also about to release a book on Antlers in the coming weeks. You can get two free sample chapters and more details over on Leanpub.

Custom CRM with Statamic? Yeah.

Statamic's Control Panel showing custom views for a real estate CRM

Of course you can build the most beautiful and easy-to-use websites and apps with Statamic. Developers love the DX and end-users enjoy the UX of the Control Panel.

But did you know you can extend the Control Panel and build in anything you can want?

Over on our Discord a community member shared this custom CRM he built with us.

Want to use Livewire in the CP? Go for it. Prefer Alpine over Vue for some simple iteractions? You can do that too.

Have a look at our docs on how to extend the Control Panel and build something awesomesauce.

The Water Cooler

Ditch WP, @statamic is a million times better!

Statamic is the best alternative to WordPress I've used yet. All the benefits of a static site (speed, design/dev control) without compromising on the CMS for my team to use.

Yes!!! I love @statamic! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Statamic is superb indeed! Love its Bard system, which makes it so flexible for unique content & design items.

Haaaave you met @Statamic ๐Ÿ˜

Weโ€™re loving the updates coming in @statamic 4. And weโ€™ve updated our addons to play nicely too.

Idea. Switch my stack as a service. Convert @rails to @laravelphp. Convert @angular to @reactjs. Convert @WordPress to @statamic. Convert @emberjs to @vuejs. Use copilot to help with heavy lifting and eventually automate with own VS code extension.

I find it better than WordPress Block Editor.

I use @statamic for all new websites. Fields such as the repeater and bard truly save time. They are easy to read both in the CMS and the code. I design websites like Lego, where I can simply reuse the components I need. This is made possible thanks to these types of fields.

This includes @statamic. It honestly makes WordPress feel so cumbersome. Having your content stored in git is ๐Ÿ”ฅ No more nightmares with keeping databases in sync. If you haven't tried anything but WordPress because it's considered the de facto, you're missing out. Big time!

@statamic for sites. @laravelphp for apps.

I can't believe how stable and clever @Statamic Bard editor became in recent 6 months. In a few days I've moved 30+ articles to Bard-based editor and every time it went smooth like using a proper hardware tool๐Ÿ‘

I haven't used @statamic for a little while now, but I'm revisiting it for a new site and wow, feature packed! Definitely going to try and use it again in production at some point soon. Feels like a perfect solution for a more data-heavy custom Laravel-style site.

My more customized sites are on @statamic (really robust CMS). For simple blogs, Iโ€™m using @blogstatic. (Itโ€™s good!)

Got to give a lot of credit to this Framer template I used for inspiration, although I opted for @statamic as my chosen CMS due to how fast I can build in it.

Very happy with my @GoHugoIO static site. When the day comes I want a CMS, Iโ€™ll definitely move over to @statamic
