The Monthly SpookyFirehose

October, 2023

Happy Halloween!

Boo! Scary cool things have happened this past month at Statamic HQ. Now that shadows lengthen and the nights grow chillier, here's our spook-tacular (muah-ah-ah) Halloween firehose! πŸŽƒπŸ‘»

From eerie content tales to bewitching links, this newsletter promises to be a treat, no tricks, promise.

Statamic HQ Updates

Duncan's first month is coming to an end and he's been busy. Lots of updates and improvements to statamic.com are coming in the next couple of weeks and months, including automatic renewals for Statamic Pro licenses, a new site gallery, the ability for developers to offer addons as a subscription instead of just a one-time purchase, and more!

Slight Price Bump for Statamic Pro and the Annual Renewal

With the launch of Statamic 3 in early 2020, we changed the pricing model to what it is today and it has stayed that way ever since. But to keep up with inflation as well as increased cost of services we rely on, we will be increasing the price of Statamic Pro a wee bit from $259 to $275 and the annual renewals will now be $65 instead of $59.

This will go into effect tomorrow, November 1st, 2023.

To give you some more perspective: The inflation calculator says it should now be $308.01. Pretty crazy considering that's just from 2020 to 2023 🀯.

We believe that Statamic brings a lot of value to developers and users and hope you understand our reasoning for the slight price increase. We want to say "Thank You" to everyone who supports us and spreads the love of Statamic πŸ’œ.

Core and Ecosystem Updates 🦌

Apart from that, lots of things have happened in the Statamic ecosystem this past month. Here's a quick rundown of the highlights:

  • The long awaited multi-site permissions got merged and have now been available since v4.27.0. Have a look at the PR for all the details.
  • User-defined fields in the CP can now be translated. More info in the PR. This pairs really well with Ryan's new Translation Manager addon.
  • Multi-site duplicator support is now in core. Duncan, who initially developed the Duplicator addon, brought the feature into the core of Statamic a while ago. This only worked with single-site setups though. Until Statamic v4.30.0. When you now duplicate an entry, it can be duplicated across multiple or even all sites. Neat feature for sure!
  • New addition to the Rad Pack! The Meilisearch addon got taken over and got a fresh polish by the Pack. If you haven't heard about it yet, Meilisearch is a great alternative to Algolia and is self-hosted. They also offer a paid and hosted solution, similiar to Algolia's.

Flat Camp EU 2024 πŸ•οΈ

The venue has been decided on and the dates are set. Now we are in the process of finalizing the last details to lock everyting in and will share more real soonβ„’.

We're trying our best to make it an EPIC event and look forward to meeting lots of you in person, again or for the first time. 🀌

The Water Cooler

One day we'll get you on the Statamic train. You just wait.

I go with @statamic all the way.

Wow, Sitemapamic, our add-on for @statamic that generates an XML sitemap for your site, has hit 10,000 installs. We're working on a refactor at the moment: are there any features or things you wish or want it to do?

One of the reasons I’m starting to build with @statamic now

Another day, another addon for @statamic. A client has some unique logging (including writing, viewing and retention), plus specific viewing options, so let’s spin this up.

FINALLY upgraded my personal @statamic site (from version 2!! 🫣) to version 4.24. Thanks to @jackmcdade and the rest of the team for their help.

πŸ₯³ Exciting news! Our website now runs on @nextjs 13 with App Dir, RSC, and @statamic with GraphQL, offering a unique, dynamic experience. Hosted on @vercel.

Mmm i hear good about statamic πŸ‘Œ

Didn't know how well @statamic was built. Man this platform is awesome.

Wordpress is a mess, especially if you start installing plug-ins. Have you ever tried @statamic? It's based on Laravel and you can actually manage both the code and the content using git.

@statamic is a developer-friendly, flat-first CMS based on Laravel + Git, offering an admin UI #madewithvuejs ⚑️

I just used @LaravelLivewire to implement a blog search w/ category filters on @statamic, and OH MY GOD THE @laravelphp ECOSYSTEM IS JUST SO GOOD!

Logs need to be human-friendly. So we built Logger for @statamic that helps collect Statamic and @laravelphp events, and present them with event-specific Blade templating for maximum friendliness. The best bit: you can extend Logger for your app's own events!

@WordPress really is an historically phenomenal framework but, in my opinion, they have lost their way with Gutenberg and Full Site Editing. There are just too many great options like @payloadcms or if you prefer to stay in PHP, @statamic knocks it out of the park with Bard.
